Frequently Asked Questions

What is Immersive?

Immersive is a language support tool designed to help people learning German—especially expats living in Germany—read real news and online content adapted to their current level of German. It allows learners to stay connected to local information while building vocabulary and improving reading comprehension.

How does it work?

Immersive lets you choose German content—such as news articles or blogs—that matches your interests. You can translate individual words or sentences, access a simplified version of the text, and (in future versions) save vocabulary and complete short exercises to reinforce learning.

Who is Immersive for?

Immersive is designed for people with an A2 to B2 level of German who want to improve through real-world reading materials. It is particularly useful for working professionals and residents who wish to better understand their surroundings and improve their language skills through daily practice.

Is Immersive suitable for beginners?

Immersive is most effective for users who already have some basic understanding of German (A2 and above). It is not designed for absolute beginners.

How is Immersive different from other translation tools?

Unlike full-text translators, Immersive focuses on helping users stay in the target language. It provides simplified content, targeted word translations, and suggestions to support learning—without fully removing the German context.

Is there a mobile version?

Currently, Immersive is available as a browser-based tool (e.g., Chrome extension). A mobile app is planned for a future release.

Can I make suggestions or give feedback?

Yes. We welcome your feedback as we continue to develop the tool. You can contact us or sign up for updates at joinimmersive.com.

What does it cost?

Immersive is currently free to use while we are building and testing the tool.
Later on, we plan to introduce a paid version with additional features, such as word tracking, quizzes, and personalized feedback.
